Spanish midfielder prepared to fight for his Real Madrid future

Spanish midfielder Daniel Ceballos has said that he will fight for his future at Real Madrid once his loan stint with Arsenal reaches its conclusion.

The 23-year-old made a bright beginning to the season for the Gunners with a couple of assists on his home debut against Burnley in the Premier League.

He has since managed to add only one goal and one assist for the north London side across all competitions and it has recently been reported that the club have no intention of re-signing him next term.

In an interview with Deportes Cuatro (h/t Goal.com), Ceballos has said that he is pleased that he has a contract with Los Blancos and is looking forward to accepting any challenge that comes his way.

“I am happy and I have a contract with Real Madrid. I am 23 years old, I’m not over the hill yet. Now I feel much more a player and I am prepared for any challenge that comes my way,” He told.

Ceballos has played under manager Zinedine Zidane at Los Blancos in two separate stints between 2017 and 2019. In both occasions, he has struggled to command regular first-team football and has managed only six starts in the Spanish top-flight.

During his time at Arsenal, Ceballos has looked more influential in a central or defensive midfield role compared to the number 10 position and that could be the way forward for the ex-Real Betis graduate.

With Luka Modric nearing his 35th birthday, Los Blancos will likely want a long-term replacement in the centre of the park and the onus is on Ceballos to prove his worth by making most of the chances offered to him.

The Spaniard’s current loan deal with the Gunners expires at the end of June. Mikel Arteta’s side are likely to look at the option of extending his temporary stay for another couple of months, with the season conclusion set to be delayed until July or August after the suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.
