Real Madrid star rescues World Cup draw for Brazil against Morocco

Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior produced a moment of magic to rescue a 1-1 draw for Brazil in their 2026 World Cup opener against Morocco.

The Selecao made a sluggish start to the match and found themselves behind by the 21st minute.

Isamael Saibari opened the scoring when he latched onto a fine pass from Brahim Diaz and chipped the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

However, Vinicius brought his side back in the game by producing a leveller just after the half-hour mark.

The 25-year-old unleashed a fierce strike into the roof of the net after receiving the ball on the left side of the penalty area.

Brazil pushed for a winner in the second-half but failed to convert their chances and ultimately settled for a 1-1 draw.

The Selecao’s overall performance was far from encouraging, but Vinicius’ impact on the pitch was a big positive for their supporters.

The Brazilian has come into this tournament off the back of a remarkable season at Madrid.

He scored 22 goals and created 14 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.

If Brazil are to reach the World Cup final, head coach Carlo Ancelotti may have to rely heavily on Vinicius who has developed a reputation for his blistering pace, trickery and clinical finishing.

The five-time World Cup winners will now return to action on Friday against Haiti before their final group game with Scotland on June 24.
