La Liga action will continue on Sunday as old enemies Barcelona and Real Madrid clash at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in a huge match in the title race.
The Catalan giants would almost confirm their new status as champions with victory this weekend, while Real would open the title race wide open if they manage to come away with full points.
Match Preview
Barcelona suffered a heartbreaking loss to Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.
They were on the brink of success when Raphinha put them ahead in the 87th-minute at the San Siro. But Francesco Acerbi equalised to force extra-time before Davide Frattesi struck the winner in the 99th minute.
However, Barcelona have no time to dwell on that defeat, as they return their focus to winning the La Liga title.
Hansi Flick’s side are in control of the title race, as they are sitting four points clear at the top.
They are also enjoying excellent form at the moment, having won their previous four matches in the Spanish top-flight, including a 2-1 triumph over Real Valladolid last weekend.
On the other hand, Real Madrid will enter the important away clash on the back of four consecutive victories in La Liga.
Their most recent success came at home against Celta Vigo last weekend when Kylian Mbappe netted a brace after Arda Guler’s 33rd-minute opener.
Late strikes from Javi Rodriguez and Williot Swedberg threatened to snatch a point, but Madrid held on to seal a 3-2 victory.
Team News
Barcelona will be missing Pablo Torre and Marc Casado as the duo are currently battling knee issues. Jules Kounde and Marc Bernal are also sidelined for Sunday’s game, but Inigo Martinez should be fine despite concerns over a muscular issue he suffered last time out.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have plenty of players in the infirmary at the moment. Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal and Eduardo Camavinga will all be missing due to fitness issues.
