La Liga in December 2022: Fixtures & Restart Date

Real Madrid comfortably won the La Liga title last season, finishing 13 points above second-placed Barcelona. However, things are not looking that easy for the Madrid outfit this campaign with the Catalans also enjoying an excellent league form. 

Los Blancos made an impressive start to the 2022-23 season, picking up 10 wins from their first 12 league matches. However, they were stunned by Rayo Vallecano early in November with the Red Sashes inflicting on them a 3-2 defeat at the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas. 

The shocking loss allowed Barcelona to climb to the top of the standings and now they are sitting two points above Los Blancos. The Blaugrana endured a disappointing Champions League campaign, losing three of their six group matches to drop into the Europa League. However, they have been excellent in La Liga this season, with Xavi’s side recording 12 victories to claim the top spot. 

The Catalans came into the World Cup break on the back of an incredible five successive league wins. 

Real and Barca are expected to provide a fierce competition for the La Liga title this season. Meanwhile, the other Spanish sides like Real Sociedad, Athletic Club and Atletico Madrid are nowhere near their levels.  

La Liga Fixtures & Restart Date

Like all the other top leagues, La Liga also stopped for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. However, the Spanish league will resume on the 29th December when three matches will be played. Girona will take on Rayo Vallecano, Real Betis will host Athletic Bilbao, and Atletico Madrid will be in contention with Elche.
