Have Spurs Set Their Sights On A Sevilla Youngster?

With Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to part ways with Ange Postecoglou despite his European success, clearly the club are looking for far better improvement in their Premier League form after a pretty disastrous 17th place finish in the 2024/25 campaign.

With former Brentford gaffer Thomas Frank now appointed as his successor, the transfer window speculation rumour mill has quickly jumped on potential targets for the North London club and talented and highly rated Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume is now claimed to be on the new man’s wish list as he settles into life at the side and makes his own plans for the coming 2025/26 season.

With the new season nearing, fans who like a flutter will be keeping their eyes out for odds on the year ahead, and others may still be experimenting with options offered by btc casino online given the growth in that type of gaming experience, but either way proper football will soon be back with us all.

Spanish outlet Fichajes has recently carried a claim suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are one of three English Premier League clubs taking a closer look at the 23 year old former French Under 21 international, and having spent time with both Sochaux and Inter Milan during his development spell as a youngster, having impressed at Sevilla during a loan spell, they made the move permanent this time last summer and the Cameroon born youngster has simply gone from strength to strength.

With it claimed that Sevilla agreed to pay 8 million Euros for his services, he has quickly become a regular in their set up and across all competitions, including international tournaments in the 2024/25 campaign, he made 40 appearances with the vast majority of those being as a starter.

Whilst there is little of a concrete nature in the speculation, he has undoubtedly been rated for quite a while given the transfer fees that he has moved for and in his time with the La Liga side he has established himself as one of Europe’s most promising defensive midfielders, so links to the likes of Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal are to be fully expected and the Spanish side could well be tempted to more quickly cash in on the potential that he has been demonstrating.

Particularly if the talk of a 20 million Euro (£17 million) valuation proves to be true, as English Premier League sides are more than capable of paying that for a player of his age and development potential, even if he does not yet have the playing experience that some of his age could boast.

With the seven time Europa League winners struggling last term, and only just narrowly avoiding relegation into the second tier by finishing in 17th place, just one point shy of the three teams in the drop zone, they may well feel that if a fee of that nature is offered that it would suit them best as they look for a mini team rebuild to avoid them struggling as much next season.

Whilst it is believed that Arsenal may currently be in pole position for his capture if a deal can be made, Spurs returning to the Champions League next season would give Agoume additional first team options when compared to manager Mikel Arteta’s current first team squad, so he may view them as being a more preferred option if he was to try and make his name in the English leagues.
